Elementary Years Programme (Juniors) Annual Sports Day 2023-24

“Win as if you were used to it, lose as if you enjoyed it for a change”. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Every child possesses distinct qualities and strengths that contribute to their individual development. Sports play an important role in children's lives by keeping them fit and active. For the overall holistic development of children, where enhancing fine and gross motor skills is important, it is equally crucial to instill the spirit of true sportsmanship. The theme for the year, 'Uketamo,' teaches little ones to handle both winning and losing with grace. To promote sportsmanship and a love for sports among children, the Elementary Years Programme (Juniors) organized an Annual Sports Day on Thursday, 15th February 2024.

The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the esteemed members of the Suncity family, including our Chairman, Mr. Ankit Goel, Madam Mansi Goel, and the parent fraternity. The opening of the Sports Meet was led by the Chairman Mr. Ankit Goel in the presence of Madam Mansi Goel and our Director, Ms. Rupa Chakravarty.

The event began with a delightful parade featuring the little ones from Pre-nursery and Nursery classes. A beautiful Surya Namaskar was presented by the Pre-nursery children. Following this, the children walked around with hula-hoops, candies, kites, windmills, pom-poms and colourful sticks in their hands, while riding cycles, scooters, and bikes, adding a touch of cheerfulness to the atmosphere. They all glowed with enthusiasm.

This was followed by captivating demonstrations such as ‘The Little Gym’ showcasing agility and flexibility. Our little cheerleaders motivated and stood by our participants, encouraging them to give their best at every stage.

The Kindergarten students showcased a dynamic Taekwondo drill, displaying their strong moves with enthusiasm and energy. Further, the Nursery students delighted everyone with their ‘Hula-hoop’ drill, demonstrating impressive coordination and rhythm. Their performance was a magnificent display of synchronization, captivating the audience with their skillful execution.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the series of races, each tailored to suit the different age groups and abilities of the students. The Pre-nursery students participated in the 'Fruity Fun Run', while the Nursery students engaged in races like 'Balance and Crawl Sprint' and 'Dino Dig'. The Kindergarten students exhibited their abilities in races like 'Roll to Rescue' and 'Clowns in Town', showcasing their speed and agility.

During the event, the students exuded enthusiasm and showcased remarkable energy in their performances. The winners took pride in accepting the medals, and other participants cheered them with a huge round of applause. The school’s playground was overflowing with zeal, passion and excitement.

The races planned for parents were ‘Paper Bag Race’ and ‘Obstacle Course Race’. Parents joined in with zeal and were eager to run on the tracks.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Navya Babar, a student of Kindergarten, followed by the National Anthem.
